For SEO purposes we would like our URL link to be in text or word format similar to the heading of our blog post or article. However, by default WordPress sets the Permalink or URL structure to Plain (Example: https://igotatechquery.com/?p=123). This post will show you the steps to customize the URL structure so that your web page links are more user friendly and SEO ready.

Editing url links in WordPress
  1. Login to your WordPress dashboard
  2. From the sidebar options >> click “Settings” >> “Permalinks”

3. From Permalinks Settings >> Select the post name option

4. Now click save changes at the bottom, to enable this setting:

Your blog posts and web pages will now show the blog post title or article heading on the URL link structure.

If you go back to your individual post and click “edit post”, you will also get the option to change the wordings on the URL so that it is search engine optimized (URL Slug SEO). Example:

URL Slug is now editable after you have customized the permalink structure to show post name
