Recently, the wifi network option disappeared suddenly from my Windows 10 PC.  Remember the Wifi icon at the bottom right of the screen, that was no longer there and only airplane mode option could be seen. I don’t remember making any changes or installing any new apps that could have caused this. Shutting down and rebooting temporarily fixed the issue but later my wifi network was not showing up.  When you went to the network and internet settings, it had option for airplane mode and under Wireless devices, it said “we couldn’t find wireless devices on the PC”. And when you click the wifi icon on the bottom right of the screen, airplane mode is the only option that comes up. There is no  wifi or any wifi routers/access points available for connection.

Windows 10 update was what I anticipated caused this bug.  After trying many methods, my wifi network is now finally showing up. Below, you will find the many methods I tried- one of them may work for you. I have experienced this “no wifi network found” issue on my Asus and HP laptop, and probably more PC models are getting this problem.

Quick Fix (but temporary)

If you want to quickly get the internet connection back, try the following. Shutdown PC (note: you have to shut down, restarting won’t work) >> wait for 5 mins >> Restart. This did fix the Wi-Fi issue for me but only temporarily.

Method 1: Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter

While this method worked has worked wonderfully on my Win 7 work PC, it was not able to fix the issue on my Win 10 laptop. However, it may still work for you. Please try these steps:

  1. Press windows key + X  >> Select “Control Panel”. (Alternatively, you can press windows key, and type “control panel” on search bar)
  2. Go to Network and sharing >> click “troubleshoot problem”
  3. Once in troubleshoot window >> click “Additional troubleshooters” >> “Run the troubleshooter”
  • Finally, complete the troubleshooting process

Method 2:  Re-installing network drivers

This method worked for me. First, I found out my Asus laptop’s model name/number and googled “network driver for (your laptop model name)”.  Then I clicked the link to my manufacturer website and downloaded the Wireless LAN adapter driver.  Alternatively, you can go straight to your laptop manufacturer’s website and then go to the download section and enter the model name and then download the driver.  Next, run the driver setup and then restart your PC. Check that your WiFi icon is back.

If you do not know the model name, you can find out my pressing Windows + R >> type “dxdiag” >> press enter. Now note down the system manufacturer name and number:

Method 3:  Restarting Radio Management Service

This method has also worked for many. Please go step by step:

  1. Press Windows + R >> type “services.msc”
  2. Scroll down to “Radio management services” >> right click and select “stop”
  3. Restart computer
  4. Now press windows key + X >> type “CMD” (to open command prompt). (or press windows key >> type “CMD” >> right click “run as administrator”
  5. In the command prompt, type “ipconfig/release”>> enter
  6. Again, in the command prompt, type “ipconfig/flushdns”
  7. Restart PC
  8. Press Windows + R >> type “services.msc”
  9. Scroll down to “Radio management services” >> right click and select “Start”

You can see the process from step 2 to step 6 on below images

I hope one of these fixes work for you. If you have any other solution for the missing Wifi option in Win 10, please mention in the comments.
